STIIIZY ATTENDS PEACEFUL PROTEST FOR BLM IN BAY AREA

STIIIZY team members attend a BLM peaceful protest in honor of Miles Hall, George Floyd and others who lost their lives to police brutality.

STIIIZY team members proudly represented by attending a peaceful protest in Walnut Creek Calif. August 29, 2020 organized by Together We Stand in collaboration with East Bay Resistance, Bay Area Grassroots, the Justice for Miles Hall org. and more. The protest was organized in recognition and response for not only Miles Hall, but for the injustice committed against George Floyd and others who the BLM movement has been standing up for as a whole.

On June 2, 2019, 23-year-old Miles Hall was fatally shot by Walnut Creek police during a mental health crisis (an incident caught from numerous angles on camera) and still to this day, the people are demanding justice for Hall’s wrongful death.

The March and Rally was organized by the Together we Stand organization who’s mission is to proactively dismantle racism and discrimination through parenting, education, advocacy and community building. With the help of other organizations such as Justice for Miles Hall, the East Bay Resistance, the Black Panther Party, Walnut Creek Solidarity, and more. The protest started from Walnut Creek’s City Hall and ended at Civic Park and had everything from participants chanting Hall’s name as well as the names of those who lost their lives due to police brutality.

Those in attendance listened to guest speakers along the route while also taking a moment to kneel for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in the middle of an intersection: the amount of time that the Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee against George Floyd’s neck. A powerful moment that led to those waiting in traffic to leave their vehicles to kneel alongside them.

An emotional day, our STIIIZY team members were proud to be part of this event to show their love and support for the BLM movement.
