We joined Asians with Attitude (AWA), United Playaz, local Bay Area students and hundreds more to stand in unity and solidarity in raising awareness for the recent hate crimes against our AAPI Community on March 26th and April 3rd in Oakland Calif. — and we didn’t stop there.
The first event our team was proud to be part of was on March 26, 2021 for the “Rise Up with Asians Rally” that was a peaceful protest put together by the local Bay Area college students and United Playaz’s own Rudy Corpuz. The goal being to come together to demand protection for Asian lives and rise up against the injustices that have been plastered on various media outlets and social media platforms.
The STIIIZY team came together to march one and a half miles from Union Square to Embarcadero Center, stopping to listen to impactful speeches, music and victims’ testimonies along the way. The rally concluded with speeches from the local AWA president Jay B Singhay (Jay B) and United Playaz founder Rudy Corpuz: both parties who have been actively involved in their communities, even more so this past year when hate crimes spiked during the peak of the COVID pandemic.
The “Unity Respect Rally” event took place on April 3, 2021 in Madison Park, Oakland Calif. in the heart of their Asian community. During this peaceful protest rally, our team and many others were able to listen to more impactful speeches, music and victims’ testimonies that helped inspire unity, strength while also demonstrating resilience once again within the community.
Our team marched two miles from Madison Park to Broadway alongside attendees while also being able to hand out BLESSED by LIIIT funded “STOP ASIAN HATE” shirts that were created to raise awareness of the hate crimes pitted against our Asian community.
The shirts were funded and sold on our website on behalf of BLESSED with 100 percent of all proceeds alongside additional monetary donation given to Stop AAPI Hate, Next Shark and AWA organizations who have all worked tirelessly to protect our communities.
As a proud Asian American co-owned and minority operated company, STIIIZY stands in solidarity with our fellow Asian American families, friends and the AAPI community at large. The anti-Asian hate crimes that have been plaguing our community and now being brought to light are unacceptable.
We hope that you join us in supporting and amplifying our voices. Together we can create and be the change needed to bring justice to our communities and to our people.
