11 CELEBRITIES WHO LOVE CANNABIS FLOWER

Back in the day, weed was mostly associated with counterculture. There were a select number of celebrities specifically associated with so-called stoner culture—folks like Cheech and Chong, Snoop Dogg, and Willie Nelson pretty much filled out the list.

Cannabis flower has since transcended into the mainstream. The plant is no longer only associated with hippies and burnouts; instead, it's a consumer-packaged good touted by a broad spectrum of celebrities and influencers.

Celebrities in particular have been joining the cannabis industry en masse. Several strains of weed have been developed specifically for A-listers, and brand partnerships have popped up in dispensaries across the country offering everything from marijuana flower to edibles and everything in between.

We tracked down some of the top celebs who love to get lit—and there may be a few on this list who surprise you.

The Celebrity Fans of Cannabis Flower

There are dozens of stars who adore cannabis. We picked out 11 of our favorites - did the celeb you stan make the cut?

Diddy

Rapper-turned-business mogul Diddy (aka Sean Combs) made headlines recently when it was announced he would be acquiring several cannabis assets from mega multi-state operator Cresco, including dispensaries and cultivation sites.

The deal, worth an estimated $185 million, created the largest minority-owned cannabis company in the country.

“Owning the entire process…is a historic win for the culture that will allow us to empower diverse leaders throughout the ecosystem and be bold advocates for inclusion,” Diddy said in a statement.

Seth Rogen

Arguably one of the most beloved potheads on the planet, Seth Rogen is ubiquitous in cannabis culture.

He made several stoner-friendly films earlier in his career, before graduating to creating his own marijuana brand. Rogen’s high-end pottery caters to cannabis consumers, featuring an array of ashtrays and lighters.

Some of the best strains of weed in Rogen’s Houseplant line include Pancake Ice and Lunar Eclipse. The pre-rolls and eighths come in collectible tins in bold colors, delighting fans across the board.

Jaleel White

Back in the 90s, nobody would have ever imagined mega-nerd Steve Urkel as a stoner. But times have changed, and actor Jaleel White, who played the obnoxiously quotable character on the sitcom Family Matters, has come out of the green closet in a big way.

A fan of purple strains of weed, White launched a collab with 710 Labs aptly named ItsPurpl. The signature offering? Purple Urkel of course.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg is a legend, with a career spanning multiple decades. As one of only 17 people to have achieved EGOT status (meaning she’s won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony), Goldberg is arguably one of the most recognizable stars on the planet.

She’s also a big fan of weed.

Goldberg initially entered the cannabis space with a wellness-focused company called Whoopi & Maya, which sold bath soaks and topicals. Her new brand, Emma and Clyde, reaches a wider audience and includes several cannabis strains, a preroll line, edibles, and more.

Justin Bieber

Teen heartthrob turned Hollywood bad boy Justin Bieber has emerged as one of the cannabis industry’s biggest patrons.

He shouted out Cali weed in his hit song Peaches and was one of the first celebs to stop by Wonderbrett’s flagship LA store (bringing the paparazzi along with him).

Bieber soon took things one step further by launching a pre-roll collaboration with Palms. The joints quickly sold out, leaving many fans wondering if a weed brand for Beliebers was on the horizon.

Lady Gaga

Singer and actress Lady Gaga has been vocal about her love of the cannabis plant. The star believes it helps her feel more creative in the songwriting process and has also reported finding relief from her fibromyalgia pain thanks to medical marijuana.

Looking at Gaga’s impressive catalog and accolades prove that the “lazy stoner” stereotype is truly a myth.

Kirstin Dunst

Kirstin Dunst may not be the first actress that comes to mind when thinking of stoner celebs, but it turns out the multifaceted actress is a proponent of pot. She famously said:

“If everyone smoked weed, the world would be a better place."

However, it turns out Dunst may be a bit of a lightweight. After accidentally smoking a full blunt on the set of her movie Woodshock, the actress said she almost lost her mind and had to go home for the day.

Santana

Guitar god Carlos Santana has been grooving for decades, but he only recently joined the weed game for real. The Smooth rocker recently launched his Mirayo by Santana brand, which includes a variety of offerings including sativa, indica, and hybrid strains as well as CBD.

"In my experience, cannabis has special properties that enhance meditative reflection and creative expression. It can dispel negative doubt to reveal the everlasting gift of our uniqueness,” Santana said when the brand hit dispensary shelves.

Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart is a classically trained thespian, becoming a household name after taking the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

The immensely respected actor is also a big fan of cannabis, saying in 2007 he smokes weed every day. The X-Men star reportedly suffers from arthritis and turned to medical marijuana to ease his pain.

Stewart decided to come out of the green closet in order to help end the stigma associated with cannabis consumers.

Rihanna

Multi-platinum recording artist Rihanna has never been shy about her love for the za-za. She is often spotted on social media smoking fat blunts, surrounded by hazy clouds of smoke. A W Magazine feature once said, “for Rihanna, every day is 4/20.”

The singer-turned-fashion and beauty mogul, who recently gave birth to her first child, spoke about her pregnancy THC-break in an interview with Vogue saying:

“I was bracing myself for something insane because I knew I wouldn’t have my usual coping mechanism.”

A well-known celebrity, Rihanna smokes cannabis flower in a blunt and wears rings, earrings, and a necklace.

Madonna

Madonna achieved pop diva status 30 years ago, but she only recently started being loud and proud about her love of weed. The Material Girl made headlines in 2020 after posing with a massive pile of Jamaican ganja to celebrate her 62nd birthday.

Since then, Madonna has continued her public love affair with pot. She smoked a massive blunt in the Snoop Dogg video Gangster Signs and was photographed by paparazzi receiving a smoky blowback from boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams.

There are many more celebrities who love to consume cannabis, and as stigmas continue to shrink, there may soon be a mass exodus from the green closet. Who is your favorite canna-celeb?
