A TRIBUTE TO THE CULTURE: MEET ARTIST NATE AUSTIN
Nathaniel F. Austin is a Cleveland, Ohio native artist who specializes in realistic portrait drawing that encapsulates the human emotion. His work is created with the boldness of charcoal and acrylic to not only capture the likeness of his subject, but to also capture their humanity and their emotions.
STIIIZY was grateful to have Nate Austin come down to our DTLA retail location where he drew a free-hand, realistic portrait of a woman inspired by the Los Angeles culture.
Austin was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio where he used drawing as an outlet when resources were scarce. At the mere age of 6, his mother saw the potential that he carried — influencing him to continue working on his craft.
The rawness portrayed in his work is a reflection of what the artist aims to say: a tribute of admiration to his subjects’ humanity and raw emotions. A reminder to him and to his peers that there is more to each person, a celebrity than just their name or what is known only on the surface.
His work has been inspired by the work of Basquiat, Picasso and Wiley. Mixing the inspiration of cubism art as well as detail orientation and surrealism. A Reminder to Austin that art is not meant to be perfect, and with that ideology, he has been using his own voice through his art to leave his mark in the world.
Nate Austin is most definitely an artist on the rise, so be sure to check out more of his work here.
