WHY THE GORILLA GLUE STRAIN IS WEED THAT STICKS AROUND

Do you love weed strains whose nugs are as sticky as they are potent and flavorful? Then allow us to introduce you to Gorilla Glue (#4) or sometimes called the GG4 strain. One of the most influential cultivars of the past decade, understandably, it’s been used to create many other awesome strains, such as Duct Tape and White Truffle.

As you might have guessed, Gorilla Glue is named after its texture because of how it sticks to trimming scissors. That stickiness is due to the large quantity of trichomes produced when the plant is grown properly. Under that thick coat of white trichomes are dense, resinous nugs that carry dark green-colored foliage with amber accents.

If you’ve never tried Gorilla Glue, then this is a perfect day to change that.

The name and genetics of the Gorilla Glue strain

Gorilla Glue #4 (called GG#4 for short) is an original creation made by Joesy Whales and Lone Watty of GG Strains, who brought this world-famous cannabis cultivar into being by crossing Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb, and Chocolate Diesel.

The cultivar’s name has always been a source of controversy and legality, due to GG Strains being sued by Gorilla Glue, the hardware glue company. Because of this, you may also see this strain called Original Glue.

GG4 has won many cannabis cups, including first place in both the Michigan and Los Angeles 2014 Cannabis Cups as well as the High Times Jamaica World Cup.

The bright green buds are dense and completely covered in those sticky, frosty white trichomes, which is why it’s no surprise that this weed is as potent as it is flavorful and tasty.

The art of growing Gorilla Glue #4

Like many others, the GG4 strain likes a warm, dry climate, with lots of sunlight and fresh air. Capable of being grown indoors or outdoors, you’ll hear that growers aim for pH levels between 6.0 and 6.6, and use nutrient-rich, well-draining soil.

As with any cannabis plant, regularly watering it is necessary but without overdoing it. Pruning helps keep the air circulating and makes room for light penetration. The plant is ready for its buds to be harvested after around 8-9 weeks when the trichomes are nice and milky white.

How does Gorilla Glue smell and taste?

Gorilla Glue is one of those strains that exudes a complex aroma. While its smell and taste may vary according to the grower and their method of cultivation, its buds are known for being dank.

People say that upon breaking apart the strain’s elongated spade-shaped nugs, it releases a pungent earthy aroma with notes of pine and citrus. Most consumers describe the strain’s buds as having earthy, nutty qualities, gassy overtones, and touches of both chocolate and coffee. That’s quite a range!

This delicious mix of fragrance and flavor comes from its terpene profile: the caryophyllene’s cinnamon, clove, and peppercorn spice: a dash of myrcene, which is also found in lemongrass; citrus-inducing limonene; and the hoppy presence of humulene, which you find in sage and ginseng.

Similar glue strains might give the same effects or have overall similar profiles. Don't be afraid to look around!

What are Gorilla Glue’s effects?

With THC levels ranging from 18% to 25% on average, suffice it to say that Gorilla Glue is a potent hybrid that will end up keeping you attached to the couch. Most consumers describe GG4 as producing sensations of happiness, relaxation, and sleepiness.

Upon consumption, the first few minutes of the high will hit you with the uplifting euphoria that is commonly associated with sativa-dominant hybrids. As that high creeps through your face, it will settle down into a strong, full-body body buzz, ultimately ending in the sedative high we’ve all come to know as couch-lock. This is why you’ll likely discover that this strain’s effects are best suited for when you’ve finished handling all your responsibilities.

Gorilla Glue #4 is known to be a strain that makes you chill out.

Gorilla Glue’s effects go straight to the head. You will feel an immediate cerebral boost of euphoria before feeling yourself get super sleepy and lazy. That’s when the couch-locking comes into play.

When you’re purchasing Gorilla Glue #4, either as flower or extracts like curated live resin, only buy from reputable brands, as it's the best way to get the flavors and the high that you'd want from GG4.
